Glossary
Insurance Agent - Representative of an Insurance Company that sells insurance policies.
Insurance Adjuster - Representative employed by an Insurance Company or private agency who estimates damages.
Deductible - The agreed upon amount, at the time an Insurance policy is purchased, which is the policy holder's responsibility when a claim is filed.
Direct Repair Program - A program set up by an Insurance Company that allows their policy holders to work directly through specific Collision Centers to have their vehicles repaired.
DRP - Acronym for Direct Repair Program.
Direct Repair Center - A Collision Center that is a member of Insurance Company’s DRP.
Betterment - A pro-rated amount, determined by the insurance company, that is the vehicle owner’s responsibility when a worn item needs to be replaced in the course of a collision repair.
Power of Attorney - A form used to transfer authority for the purpose of cashing an insurance check to pay for a repair.
Claimant – A person having an insurance claim against someone else’s insurance company
Insured - A person having a claim against their own insurance company.
I-Car – Acronym for the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair.
Inter-Industry Conference On Auto Collision Repair- An international not-for-profit organization dedicated to training the collision industry.
Supplemental Damage - Additional damage found after the original estimate has been made. This damage is usually identified after work has begun on the vehicle.
R&I – Acronym for Remove and Install.
Blend - Partially painting into an adjacent panel to obtain paint match.
